Taiwo Bello
President
Taiwo Bello is an Assistant Professor of African History at Oklahoma State University. He received PhD in African History from the University of Toronto, with a focus on gender and militarism in the Nigerian Civil War, 1967-1970. He is a specialist in gender and women’s history, war and society, violence and conflict studies, Black and diaspora studies, and global and transnational history.
 
His articles have appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Gender & History, Africa Today, Journal of World History, War & Society, War in History, the International History Review, the Journal of Global South Studies, The Canadian Historical Review, the Journal of History, and the Journal of Globalization Studies. His book, Soldiers on Rampage: Gender, Blockade, Violence and Resistance in Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War, 1967-1970, which explores the impact of the wartime violence between the Nigerian and Biafran soldiers on Biafran women and their families, and the women’s responses to the development will be published by Ohio University Press (War & Militarism in African History series).

He is an active member and a Fellow of the Society for Military History (SMH), an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (RHS), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Canadian Journal of African Studies.
